Finals and rankings settled on the final day of the Championship

The final day of the European Universities Futsal Championship 2025 was everything a championship finale should be — filled with intensity, emotion, and celebration. From the placement matches in Pešćenica, Trešnjevka and Sutinska Vrela, to the finals at the iconic Sports Hall Dražen Petrović (Cibona), the day showcased the very best of university futsal in Europe.

Women’s Competition

Final: National Pedagogical Dragomanov University – University of Barcelona (4–2)

The grand finale of the women’s tournament brought together two strong teams — Dragomanov University from Ukraine and the University of Barcelona. The match was fast-paced and emotionally charged from start to finish.

Dragomanov took an early lead and managed to maintain a narrow advantage despite strong resistance from the Spanish side. Barcelona equalized in the first half, but the Ukrainian team responded immediately and didn’t look back. Demonstrating excellent coordination and technical quality, Dragomanov added more goals in the second half, securing a 4–2 victory and the European university title. The team celebrated with their supporters in scenes of pure joy — a well-earned reward for their consistently impressive tournament run.



3rd place: Rey Juan Carlos University – Nantes Université (5–2)


In the women’s bronze medal match, Rey Juan Carlos University outclassed Nantes Université in a display of attacking brilliance. After a fast start and several lead changes in the first half, the Spanish team took full control. Two goals from standout player N. Rodriguez Gonzalez and a strong defensive effort sealed a 5–2 victory, earning Rey Juan Carlos University the third-place finish and leaving no doubt about their deserved place on the podium.


5th place: University of Zagreb – WSG Bydgoszcz (3–2)


In front of their home fans, the University of Zagreb fought hard to edge out WSG Bydgoszcz in a nail-biting 3–2 win. After leading at halftime, Zagreb faced pressure in the second half but responded with composure and resilience. A late winner secured the fifth-place finish for the Croatian hosts, who exited the tournament on a high note.

 

Men’s Competition

Final: Azerbaijan Sport Academy – University of Valencia (7–2)

The men’s final saw a powerful performance from Azerbaijan Sport Academy, who claimed the title with a dominant 7–2 win over University of Valencia. ASA stormed into the lead with two early goals, and though Valencia managed to reduce the deficit to 2–1, the Azerbaijani side quickly regrouped and took complete control. Fast counterattacks, clinical finishing, and a high-pressing strategy overwhelmed Valencia and left no doubt about the champions. The final whistle sparked huge celebrations for ASA, who lifted the trophy after a phenomenal campaign.



3rd place: University of Castilla-La Mancha – University of Warsaw (8–3)


In a high-scoring bronze medal match, University of Castilla-La Mancha turned a tense first half into a commanding second-half performance. After trailing early, UCLM equalized and then pulled away with a series of stunning goals, including a hat-trick from Mario Garcia Sanchez. Warsaw fought hard but couldn’t keep up with the Spanish tempo. The final score of 8–3 was a testament to UCLM’s attacking flair and adaptability, earning them third place in style.

Women’s Competition

  • 9th place: University of Münster – Tampere University (1–1, 4–3 pens)
    In a tightly contested match, Tampere took a second-half lead only to see Münster equalize at the very last moment. The German side showed mental strength in the penalty shootout, edging out their Finnish opponents 4–3 in dramatic fashion. A controversial goal in the shootout, which was confirmed by referees despite appearing not to cross the line, became a talking point but sealed Münster’s ninth-place finish.




Men’s Competition

  • 7th place: Jan Evangelista Purkyne University – University of Paris-Saclay (4–1)
    After trailing at halftime, Jan Evangelista Purkyne University launched an extraordinary comeback against Paris-Saclay. Three of their four second-half goals came from their own half into an empty net, exploiting the French fly keeper tactic. Martin Kriz’s long-range brace stood out as one of the highlights of the day. A proud moment for the Czech team, who ended the tournament in seventh place.




  • 9th - 11th place: University of Pecs – Norwegian University of Science and Technology (3–6)
    It was an interesting match for 9th place between University of Pecs and Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Even though Hungarian University did not play badly, Norwegians were dominating the whole match. In the first half we saw 6 goals and the score was 2:4 for Norwegian University. It seemed that Hungarian did not have enough energy to come back from that scored and the end result was 3:6 for the Norwegians.

Women’s Competition

  • University of Minho – Gazi University (4–2)
    Minho took an early lead and never looked back in their placement match against Gazi University. Scoring within the first minute and adding two more before halftime, they withstood Gazi’s efforts to narrow the gap. The Portuguese side controlled the second half well to seal a 4–2 win.




Men’s Competition

  • 5th place: University of Split – University of Zagreb (1–0)
    A tense Croatian derby saw the University of Split edge out the hosts 1–0. The only goal came midway through the first half, courtesy of Dario Josipović. Despite multiple fouls and a physical second half, neither side found the net again. Split’s defensive discipline ensured they finished fifth overall, a strong result in a highly competitive field.




  • 12th - 14th place: Polytechnic University of Hauts-de-France – Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (9–2)
    The final match at Sutinska was a display of dominance by the French side. After conceding the opening goal, Hauts-de-France responded with nine unanswered strikes, including six in the second half. Their fast transitions and sharp shooting left Lausanne with no answers, rounding off the tournament with a comprehensive win.

Men’s Competition

  • 11th place: University of Bergen – University of Split (4–1)
    Bergen started strong and maintained control throughout their final placement match. Split managed to score once, but the Norwegian side pulled away with two late goals by S. Rotvold Gerhardsen, securing 11th place. It was a fast-paced and physical match, reflecting the competitive spirit of the tournament even in its final stages.



  • 13th place: University of Burgundy – University of Jyvaskyla (5–8)
    The battle for 13th place turned into a high-scoring affair, with momentum swinging back and forth in the first half. University of Burgundy opened the scoring, but Jyväskylä responded quickly. Within seconds, Burgundy regained the lead, only for the Finnish side to equalize again and then pull ahead 2–3. In the second half, Jyväskylä found their rhythm, extending their lead with a series of well-executed goals. Though Burgundy narrowed the gap late in the match, the final score stood at 5–8 in favor of Jyväskylä.



  • 15th - 17th place: University of Warwick – St Mary's University (1–3)
    St Mary’s University secured 15th place with a composed performance against Warwick. They dominated early, scoring twice in the opening 12 minutes. Warwick came to life in the second half and managed to reduce the deficit to 1–2, but St Mary’s held firm and sealed the match with a late goal, closing the tournament on a positive note.




With the finals completed and champions crowned, the European Universities Futsal Championship 2025 in Zagreb came to a close — but the memories, friendships, and thrilling moments will continue to echo long after the final whistle.
