Day two recap – Futsal 2025 heats up across four sports halls!

The second day of the European Universities Futsal Championship delivered intense competition, emotional wins, and outstanding performances in all four sports halls. Here's a hall-by-hall breakdown of the action.

Sports Hall Sutinska Vrela

Women’s Tournament

  • University of Barcelona vs Nantes University (4–0)
    In the first women’s match at Sutinska Vrela, Barcelona put on a show. Dominating from the start, they went 3–0 up by halftime and added a fourth in the second to shut down any French hopes of a comeback.

  • WSG Bydgoszcz vs University of Münster (8–3)
    The Polish side made a statement. With relentless attacking play, WSG Bydgoszcz overwhelmed Münster. Even after conceding 3 goals in the second half, the result was never in doubt.

 

Men’s Tournament

  • University of Warwick vs Norwegian University of Science and Technology (6–4)
    After a tough loss on Day 1, the University of Warwick bounced back with determination. In a fast-paced match where both sides kept exchanging goals, the British side took charge in the second half and sealed the win.

  • University of Castilla-La Mancha vs Jan Evangelista Purkyne University (4–3)
    A dramatic turnaround! After trailing 1–3 at halftime, the Spanish team turned up the pressure. Despite a heroic effort from the Czech goalkeeper, Castilla-La Mancha capitalized on late-game errors to pull off an exciting comeback win.

Women’s Tournament

 

  • Rey Juan Carlos University vs University of Burgundy (12–2)
    The most dominant performance of the day. Rey Juan Carlos University exploded onto the court with a 12-goal show, including a hat-trick from Arbeloa Guerrero Iraia. An early title contender?

  • University of Minho vs Tampere University (2–1)
    Minho took the lead early, Tampere equalized before halftime, but Minho sealed the win with a second-half goal.

 

Men’s Tournament

  • University of Split vs University of Pécs (7–0)
    The men from Split started strong with 5 goals in the first half and calmly saw out the match with two more. A confident and complete performance led by standout scorers Tunjic and Govorko.

  • Azerbaijan Sport Academy vs Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (5–1)
    In a physical match marked by four yellow cards, Azerbaijan took time to get going but ultimately pulled away. After a 17th-minute opener, they controlled the tempo and wrapped up a solid victory.

 

 

Sports Hall Cibona

Women’s Tournament

  • National Pedagogical Dragomanov University vs University of Jyväskylä (5–1)
    Ukraine started strong and finished stronger. After a first-half lead and a brief Finnish fightback, they regrouped and added three more goals to open their campaign with style.

  • University of Split vs University of Amsterdam (4–1)
    Another win for Split! After a dominant first half, they kept their cool despite Amsterdam’s early second-half goal. With a focused defense, they secured a confident 4–1 victory.

 

Men’s Tournament

  • University of Zagreb vs St Mary’s University (8–0)
    What a performance by the host city’s team! With six goals in the first half and two more after the break, Zagreb completely outclassed their English opponents. An elite display of both offense and defense.

  • University of Warsaw vs University of Mainz (1–1)
    One of the most intense matches of the day. Warsaw scored early, Mainz responded quickly, and while the scoreboard remained unchanged in the second half, the energy and competitiveness never dipped.

 

 

Sports Hall Trešnjevka (Kutija Šibica)


Women’s Tournament

  • University of Bergen vs Gazi University (1–3)
    In a tightly contested women’s match, Gazi University prevailed with a solid performance. Both teams acknowledged the intensity and fairness of the game, showcasing great sportsmanship.

 

Men’s Tournament

  • University of Paris-Saclay vs University of Valencia (3–5)
    A rollercoaster! Valencia took a 2–0 lead before Saclay responded with two goals of their own. But the Spaniards found a second wind, netting three more to secure a 5–3 win in a thrilling encounter.

  • University of Debrecen vs Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology (7–1)
    Debrecen delivered a masterclass. After a challenging start, they dominated the match with strategic execution and fast-paced play. The Finnish team fought hard but couldn’t match the Hungarian firepower.
